Bio

Simon has been doing consumer behaviour research since 2009. Driven by a strong background in analytics, he currently helps clients in the FMCG sector with quantitative insights, for example for testing product concepts, packaging, communication and category and brand insights.

Simon joined InSites Consulting in 2019, coming from the Public Affairs division of GfK (now Ipsos), where he worked extensively on multi-country studies for the European Commission, Eurofound and Pew Research. Simon obtained a PhD in consumer behaviour research, during which he published in top-tier international marketing and communication journals (such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication). He is still in touch with his academic past as a regular guest lecturer at Ghent University, Antwerp University and Grenoble Ecole Management. As a German native, he speaks English, German and Dutch fluently.

Simon’s favourite part of the job is translating numbers into concrete answers to clients’ questions, using sound analytics and a sense of storytelling. He is responsible for research projects, from the development of a questionnaire to the debrief to internal and external stakeholders.
