Work hard, play harder!

Last weekend the entire InSites Consulting team joined in Belgium for our yearly teambuilding event. The ‘building’ part of the teambuilding began way before we stepped foot onto the beautiful grounds of La Ramée Jodoigne. From a frenzy of veto e-mails (ask one of the InSites colleagues if you want to know more about our veto-movement) to some pretty creative fancy dress planning, there was a definite buzz in the air about what this year’s teambuilding was going to bring!
As a newbie, I was especially excited to spend some more time with colleagues from across our offices. On Thursday afternoon we began with an amazing session on learning how to play the bongos! Fun, new, an insight into the music of another culture and most of all the chance to make some loud noise – who could resist! Followed by an evening of banter, food, in-house DJ’s and dancing, the night only got better! On Friday we gathered in the morning to dress up in youngster subcultures (inspired by Joeri Van den Bergh’s book on Branding and Generation Y) to create our very own commercials, ending the day with yet another memorable party.
What was remarkable, was the ability of people to make the most of the activities i.e. the football, table tennis, PlayStation, despite periods of rain (yes, we are in Belgium of course)! It was refreshing to see in action the ‘work hard, play harder’ spirit that I had heard a lot about.
